Software Resources

Software

Teams can use any software they choose for competition. Ansys and Autodesk are partners of STEM Racing USA and provide free software, but teams are allowed to use any software they select or are comfortable with.

Autodesk

Autodesk is a professional software company with programs like Inventor (CAD), Fusion360 (CAD & CAM), and Autodesk CFD & Flow Design (CFD), Showcase (Renderings), and more! STEM Racing students have access to free software.

Free Software Access: Can be found on https://www.autodesk.com/education/competitions/f1inschools, and by scrolling down to “Autodesk software for participating schools”

Tutorials: At the bottom of the page, there is a tutorial section specific to each software. There are also numerous tutorials on YouTube.

Ansys

STEM Racing students receive free access to Ansys Student – a software package that includes Ansys Mechanical, Ansys CFD, Ansys Discovery, Ansys SPEOS, Ansys Autodyn, Ansys DesignXplorer, and Ansys SpaceClaim. These fantastic CFD products will ensure students have unparalleled insight into how their car will perform on the racetrack, before it gets there. Enabling teams to determine the feasibility of ideas, analyze the aerodynamics of their design, and, ultimately, increase their car's performance, Ansys software is an invaluable tool for all competing in STEM Racing.
