Design Engineer
The role of Design Engineer
The primary role of the Design Engineer is the design and develop the Computer Aided Design (CAD) model of the team’s F1 in Schools car.
This includes generating many iterations of designs and testing concepts to develop a final design!
The Design Engineer works closely with the Manufacturing Engineer to develop and produce the team’s car.
They may also be responsible for coordinating virtual and physical testing for the research and development of the car.
Responsiblities
Develop a list of needed materials to successfully complete the team’s cars (to be given to Resource Manager)
Conduct research for the design of the car
Develop the CAD model for the team’s car (including the full assemble and sub assembly parts)
Conduct virtual testing to evaluate car designs
Work with the Manufacturing Engineer to…
Select materials for car production
Conduct physical tests for R&D and validation
Produce the technical drawings for the final car
main deliverables
CAD model of the car and corresponding assemblies
Copy for the Engineering Portfolio
Technical Drawings for the Final Car and Scruitneering
